I am requesting financial assistance for the purchase of a professional bow. I do not currently own a bow, so I have been in contact with Harry Grabenstein about a "do-all" that I will use for everything. He has agreed to make a bow per my request. I am currently interested in his "Modified Tielke" and "Hill #20" bows, but will be working with Harry to find a bow that is the best fit for me and my instrument.
This bow would be used in conjunction with the seven-string viol I have ordered from Charlie Ogle. This will be my first bow and instrument, which I will use for performances, masterclasses, workshops, and my lessons at Peabody Conservatory where I study viol. I have been very impressed with the Grabenstein bows I have seen and tried, and will undoubtedly keep it for life.
I would greatly appreciate assistance in purchasing this bow, as it will be a tool I use every day and will immensely help further my professional career as a violist.

The amount of the bow is more than the maximum Grant-In Aid. If the maximum amount were awarded, I would use money I have in savings, money I have stowed away from gigs, and money from my part-time job.
With the higher price tag in mind:

Qualifications:
I am a very serious viol player with the intention of becoming a well-functioning professional in the early music world.
I am approaching my last year of Undergraduate studies at Peabody Conservatory were I study Viola da Gamba with Dr. John Moran. Plans are in the works to continue into a Masters degree program. I also have future aspirations to complete a DMA in Viola da Gamba Performance, as well as travel to Europe and fully immerse myself in the world of the past greats. I work very hard improving myself as school, as well as use outside improvement tools such as VDGSA workshops, performance classes, etc. I also work with other peers and professionals whenever possible.
I am extremely passionate about the viol and look forward to sharing my knowledge and abilities with others through teaching, concerts, and recording. I am a huge advocate of a full revival of the viol, putting it back into mainstream eyes, extending its reach far beyond a niche community, and allowing many others to hear and experience this gorgeous instrument!
